Using Technology
ethically

Technology has consequences, tests norms, changes what we do or are able to do, acts for us, and makes biased decisions. The use of technology can also have adverse effects on people. Technology can threaten individual autonomy and violate privacy rights. Technologies can also be morally contentious by “forcing deep reflection on personal values and societal norms”.

There are many questions facing us as we march toward a more technological future. And there are many uncertainties. Our hope is that we will use technology to bring about a better life for all in a more egalitarian way that helps those who are worst off. That is where we can do the greatest amount of good.

At Thess INTEC we study the implications of science and technology and we explore the issues facing our society. Our under development Mega Project “Humanities” is trying to come up with today’s answers to tomorrow’s questions.
